Sate Kambing Paksebali
Satay restaurant
● Recommended by Mate's TableFollow your appetite
Satay puts the grill at the centre of the meal. Bali’s versions include skewered pieces as well as sate lilit, where seasoned mince is wrapped around a stick before cooking. The latter is a local tradition, not a promise on every menu. Follow the contrast of browned edges and fragrant seasoning, with rice and a little chilli alongside to turn a few skewers into lunch.

Ubud’s appetite reaches beyond café breakfasts to Indonesian spice, comforting rice meals and thoughtful dinners in the town and its surrounding villages.

Rice fields and village roads shape a quieter meal in Sidemen, from a simple lunch stop to Asian–Indonesian plates with the valley in view.

Bali’s rice plates carry layers of spice: slow-cooked poultry, coconut, vegetables and sharp sambal, with each kitchen choosing its own balance.

Smoke, tender fish and a bright hit of chilli define Bali’s grilled-fish meals, from coastal tables to simple restaurants further inland.
