About Le Bistrot

In eastern Bali’s fishing village of Amed, Le Bistrot delivers authentic French comfort cooking in a breezy open garden. Travelers worn out by weeks of fried rice head straight here for classic scratch-made dishes—tender bœuf bourguignon, seasoned beef tartare, and flank steak with gratin dauphinois. Marseillais owner Jean runs the floor himself, pouring pastis and setting out board games while guests unwind under the trees. Meals finish over dark chocolate mousse or choux pastries filled with ice cream and warm chocolate sauce.

  • Scratch French Bistro Menu: Features a tightly focused rotation of roughly five scratch-made mains, alongside classics like beef tartare and gratin dauphinois.
  • Pétanque and Pastis: Guests can sip chilled Ricard and play casual matches on the dedicated gravel court out in the garden.
  • Owner-Led Hospitality: Hands-on Marseillais owner Jean greets tables, shares local insight, and offers casual table games.
