About Warung Indah

Set right on the sand at Lipah Beach, this open-air bamboo warung lets you swim with sea turtles before lunch. Snorkel the offshore reef, leave your bags by the table, and rinse off at the outdoor shower. Diners point to fresh catches bought straight off the fishing boats landing out front and grilled over coals, alongside dishes like pepes ikan and sate lilit. Come evening, acoustic sets blend with the tide as glasses of arak-lemon honey go around.

  • Direct Beach Access & Snorkeling: Steps from offshore coral reefs, offering on-site snorkel rentals, secure bag-sitting at tables, and an outdoor rinse shower.
  • Shoreline Fresh Fish: Local catches purchased straight from returning fishing boats on the shoreline and grilled fresh to order.
  • Bamboo Seaside Atmosphere: Open-air bamboo dining room with ocean views, quiet daytime sea breezes, and evening acoustic music by the surf.

  • Shoreline Catch Cooked Directly from Local Boats

The kitchen serves seafood directly procured from traditional jukung fishing boats landing right on the sand outside the warung.

We saw a fisherman come up on the beach and sell the fish directly to the chef, which we promptly had him cook up for us.

  • Traditional Bamboo Dining directly on the Shore

A breezy, open-air bamboo dining extension sits right on the beach, providing unobstructed views of Lipah Bay and traditional fishing craft.

He recently added a stunning extension to the dining area built from bamboo giving it a nice tropical feel.

Before you head over

Practical advice for enjoying fresh coastal dining and reef snorkeling on Lipah Beach

  • Combine Dining with Reef Snorkeling

Plan your visit around a snorkel session right outside the restaurant. Staff allow you to leave personal belongings at tables while exploring the reef and provide water rinse taps and an outdoor shower to wash off sand when you return.

  • Book Specialized Feasts in Advance

For special traditional slow-cooked dishes such as bebek betutu (Balinese duck), place a booking at the warung a day in advance so the kitchen can source and prepare it properly.

  • Opt for Local Indonesian Specialties

Stick to the freshly cooked Indonesian specialties, local grilled fish brought directly by shoreline fishermen, or satay rather than western staples like sandwiches, which are very simple.
