About Liap Liap

On Ubud's busy Jalan Monkey Forest, Liap Liap explores the Indonesian archipelago over open embers and charcoal. Arrivals begin with a complimentary spiced welcome pour and house bites before the kitchen gets to work. The cooking ranges far beyond standard resort fare: rich Borneo crab curry meant for sharing, bamboo chicken, and a signature seafood liwet paella cooked over an opor rice base. Past the front hearth, guests drift toward the quiet pool garden out back or head upstairs for evening live music, ending with sweet bowls of red rice bubur.

  • Complimentary Welcome Ritual: Every table receives a complimentary spiced welcome drink and starter snack upon sitting down.
  • Regional Archipelagic Fire: The kitchen traverses the archipelago with signatures like Borneo crab curry, bamboo chicken, and seafood liwet paella.
  • Connected Multi-Level Space: An open-kitchen front dining room transitions directly into a hidden pool garden and upstairs live music lounge.

Practical advice on parking, seating, and ordering for your visit

  • Car Parking Planning

There is no dedicated car parking directly outside the restaurant along Jl. Monkey Forest; motorists should plan to park at a paid public lot roughly 500 meters away and walk.

  • Table Seating Selection

The kitchen's charcoal cooking area is situated right at the entrance where heat can build up, so request a table further inside or near ventilated spots for a cooler dining experience.

  • Spice Level Adjustment

Rich archipelagic curries and specialties like bamboo chicken can have their spice levels customized, allowing you to ask your server for mild preparation if sensitive to heat.
